Soap making

We made soap! With the tallow from moose, deer, bison and other animals, making soap is not only possible, but was common across our homeland. Join us as we learn to make soap from lye and fats.

This is a 3 hour class that starts at 6pm MST.

There are no refunds on online classes, however, a recording will be available for you to watch afterwards.

This course is perfect for those who want the purest soap for their family, friends, and for their own health. Soaps do not need to have tons of dyes and perfumes to smell lovely and do a great job of cleaning our bodies, our laundry and our homes. This basic soap making course is right on time for you to make your own handmade soaps as gifts for the holidays.

What will I learn?

  • How to render fats for soap making
  • How to use soap recipes and how to alter them to suit your needs
  • How to select and use essential oils for creating healing soaps that smell wonderful
  • Using herbs and minerals to colour soaps

Taanishi! Dishinikawshon Natalie Pepin. I am a Metis woman in the Tawatinaw Valley in Alberta, Canada. I support indigenous people who are reclaiming their indigenous roots to connect with their culture through learning the traditional skills, arts, stories and teachings of our ancestors. I support indigenous people, who are severed from their traditions by legacy and trauma of colonization, who are discovering that their culture is beautiful. I teach indigenous arts workshops such as beading, moccasin making and brain tanning as a means of reconciliation and reconnection.
