What You’re Going To Learn
In this workshop, you’re going to learn the foundational skills that you will build on over the coming weeks, months and years to create beautiful beaded artwork.
- Materials and Equipment – learn all about what materials you can bead on, the different sizes of beads and what they are used for, what size and types of needles and thread to use for beading, and how to ensure your beading ages well with backing fabrics.
- Traditional Flower Designs – learn about what makes the Metis “The Flower Beadwork People” and what are the traditional elements of flower beadwork.
- Single Needle Stitch – learn this basic stitch which you will build on with all other stitches.
- Two Needle Stitch – learn how to create even tension, coverage, and strokes in your beaded artwork with two needle stitches.
- Patterns – learn how to transpose your beading pattern onto your fabric
- Tips and Tricks – learn how to create lovely rounded petals, perfectly pointed leaves, and even scrolling vines. Learn how to pick up beads with ease, ideas for helping you bead while protecting your eyesight and much much more.

Materials are not included in the cost of classes. Each class will come with a materials list. We also offer optional materials kits with all of the materials necessary to complete the course.
