Description
Join us as we create exquisite works of traditional art with this 6 month fire bag intensive. This program will not only walk you through each step of creating a fire bag, but we will dive deep into the cultural process of creating traditional art, fire bag teachings, and growing together as a cohort of artists.
This is an advanced program for experienced beaders. We have a beginners class for those who are new to beading and want to explore an easier version of making a firebag/octopus bag.
This project will take between 100 and 150 hours to complete, please sure you have adequate time (at least 3 to 5 hours a week).
We will meet on Zoom twice a month for 6 months as we create our firebags.
There is an optional materials kit for this cohort which includes;
- Velvet
- Stabilizer
- Reproduction 1800s cotton print liner
- Size 13 beads (20 strands) in several colors as your base of beads
- Beading thread
- Beading needles
- Solvy pattern paper
- Silk binding tape
- Silk floss for tassels
- A small package of steal cut beads from the 1800s
These are premium materials kits and you can purchase more basic materials at a lower cost locally if you prefer.
Participants are invited to our fall Firebag Teachings camp for in person teachings also.
Please contact natalie@meetingmyancestors.com if you have questions about if this program is right for you.
