Wood carving

Carving wood is an important skill that not only created beautiful items, it was a practical skill that allowed axe handles to be replaced, deck rails and spindles to be created, and curtain rods to be fashioned. Carving spoons is a time honoured tradition that is as beautiful and practical today as it has always been. In this class, we will learn to carve a basic spoon. Please note, we will not be able to complete a full spoon in this class, but we will go through the entire process at different stages.

This is a 3 hour class that starts at 6pm MST.

There are no refunds on online classes, however, a recording will be available for you to watch afterwards.

Taanishi! Dishinikawshon Natalie Pepin. I am a Metis woman in the Tawatinaw Valley in Alberta, Canada. I support indigenous people who are reclaiming their indigenous roots to connect with their culture through learning the traditional skills, arts, stories and teachings of our ancestors. I support indigenous people, who are severed from their traditions by legacy and trauma of colonization, who are discovering that their culture is beautiful. I teach indigenous arts workshops such as beading, moccasin making and brain tanning as a means of reconciliation and reconnection.
