Skill Drive Fundraiser

We are fundraising to help remove the financial burden for those who will be attending our Metis Women’s Camp this year. These are women who are reconnecting with and reclaiming their culture, which for many Metis families was discouraged, hidden, and outlawed for generations.
This camp is an opportunity for participants to connect with the land, practice language, and take part in the traditions of our ancestors.
Some of the skills we practice at the camp include;
– Cooking for the community
– Fire starting without matches or lighters
– Hide tanning
– Songs
– Harvesting wild foods, medicines
– Creating shelter
– Setting up a tipi
– Wood carving
– Quill plaiting, fish scale art, tufting, silk embroidery, ribbonwork
– Practicing language
– Making cordage
And of course, there will be many opportunities for teachings, sharing and connecting.
It takes a lot of effort and resources to put on a week-long event for community as we include all materials, food, and space for participants. And this is where we are inviting you to support.
Community events need community to make them happen…will you help us make this happen?
Even a small amount will go a long way to supporting Metis women and their children to attend this camp.
You can help by learning a new skill!
Registrations in any of the following online classes will support this camp as all funds will go directly to offering subsidies for participants to attend!
