Firebag Teachings: Fall Camp

In Person Firebag Teachings Camp Sept 14th/15th

Firebags are a treasured item, beaded with love and thoughtful designs. BUT! They aren’t just a pretty article of clothing. There are important teachings that accompany this item. Teachings around our relationship with fire.

As people who lived (and still live) close to the land, the ability to start, manage, and live with fire every day was critical not only to our survival, but in allowing us to thrive.

Modern fire is often a recreational activity, but for our ancestors, it was a part of life.

At this camp we will learn about our relationship with fire. We will learn about different types of fire around the camp. We will learn to start fire with flint and steel, to collect and care for tinder and kindling. To nurture a tiny spark into a hat flame. We will cook on the fire, learn to manage smoke, and learn about our beautiful firebags.

This camp is open to individuals and families. Dogs are not permitted.

Camping on site is free, however, there are no power or water hookups.
